Deploy vSAN 7 Cluster LAB setup:

Three ESXi hosts each is configured with:

8 GB Memory.

Two 10 GB Ethernet cards, one card will be configured during installation for the management traffic, and the other one will be configured for vSAN traffic. For all-flash configurations, the vSAN hosts have a minimum bandwidth of 10 GbE.

Two 142 SSD hard disks for All-Flash vSAN configuration, one SSD disk will be used as a capacity disk, and the other one will be used as a cache disk. vSAN hosts contributing storage to the cluster must have at least one cache and one capacity device.

One 142 SSD hard disk will be used for the ESXi operating system installation.

1. Enter all of the three hosts into maintenance mode.

2. Go to New Cluster > Configure > QuickStart.

3. In Quick Start, go to Cluster Basics > Edit > Enable vSAN.

4. Wait until Hosts’ configurations are checked and passed.

5. Go to Configure Cluster > Configure.

6. In Configure cluster > Distributed switches > Choose vmnic1 for vSAN Distributed Switch “DSwitch-vSAN”. 

7. Assign static IPs for vmnic1 in each ESXi host.

8. Choose the following options:

Deployment Type: Single Site ClusterSpace

Efficiency: Deduplication and compression

Fault Domains: Enabled.

9. Claim Disks:

Claim one disk as a capacity disk.

Claim one disk as a cache disk. 

10. Click Next.

11.Click Next.

12. Click Finish.

13. Wait until the configuration is completed.

14.Check the created vSAN datastore: “vsanDatastore.”
